What is Race Equality Week?
Race Equality Week is an annual global movement to spark and renew hope, inspire progress, and keep the momentum going in addressing race inequality.
92% would recommend Race Equality Week to address race inequality.
With over 8,088 organisations engaged with Race Equality Matters, Race Equality Week 2026 is set to engage even more, reaching millions of employees in the UK and beyond.
Purpose and Aims.
Once Black History Month is over, for many, discussions about race inequality lose momentum.
Race Equality Week was created to keep the momentum going, providing both focus and opportunity to bring together thousands of organisations and individuals to tackle barriers to race equality in the workplace.
Many people and organisations are going through a really difficult time, especially when it comes to inclusion and belonging.
The essence of Race Equality Week is the power of a collective movement of people and organisations who care and are committed to creating the change we all want to see and feel.
As more of us join in, Race Equality Week’s impact grows. Together, our collective voice becomes powerful and meaningful.
Why the 2026 Theme #ChangeNeedsAllOfUs?
‘What is an ocean but a multitude of drops?’ – Cloud Atlas
The Race Equality Matters community has chosen #ChangeNeedsAllOfUs as the theme for Race Equality Week 2026.
In our community, many worry that progress is slowing down, sometimes even slipping backwards, as shown by the following data.
In 2025:
These numbers were roughly the same in 2024 and 2023.
The drive for race equality is now left to the few. But this shouldn’t be a lonely battle. Building on previous years’ themes:
2023: #ItsEveryonesBusiness
2024: #ListenActChange
2025: #EveryActionCounts
The 2026 theme, #ChangeNeedsAllOfUs is a call to make it everyone’s business.
As Hellen Keller said:
‘Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much;.
No matter who you are, where you work, or how much influence you think you have, you can make a difference.
