Come to the official launch of the Black Health Legacy Research Project – a first-of-its-kind initiative dedicated to improving health outcomes for Black, Black African, and Black Caribbean communities in the UK. Led by and for Black communities, this transformative research programme aims to become the UK’s largest community-based health study, beginning with the development of a gene bank of 100,000 DNA samples. At its core, the Black Health Legacy is about honouring lived experiences, building trust, and driving systemic change through inclusive research and community-led solutions.
Date: Wednesday 12th of November 2025
Venue: The Old Library, Garrod Building, Turner Street, London, E1 2AD
Lunch will be provided – please include any dietary requirements when confirming your attendance.
The Black Health Legacy: Our Health, Our Legacy – Community Stakeholder Launch will bring together community leaders, health professionals, researchers, and policymakers to explore collaborative approaches to reducing health inequalities. This event marks a significant moment in the health equity space, and with community at the heart of this initiative, it is vital that we begin by launching amongst community members first.
What to expect:
Keynote presentations from research project co-leads Dr Sarah Finer and Dr Veline L’esperance, Race and Health Observatory’s Dr Nandi Simpson and Community Advisory Board Chair Ruth Ajayi.
Roundtable discussions where you’ll have the opportunity to share your insights on health equity and help shape how community voices are embedded in research design, implementation, and policy.
The chance to be one of thousands helping to build a legacy of better health for future generations by being one of the first people to donate to the Black Health Legacy
