The last few months have been very busy for some of our members who participated in the Jazanne Arts production – “Murder at the Manor.” Hyacinth Treasure, Bernadette Fontenelle and Ursula Duberry are all the Enfield Caribbean Association and members of the ‘Dream Team’ – a community drama group based in Edmonton for people aged 60 – 90+. ‘The Dream Team’, devised and wrote this original and hilarious comedy.
Hyacinth, Bernie and Ursula all excelled themselves in this killer comedy murder mystery which they performed, not once, but three times at The Southgate Club. They were supported by their family, friends, ECA members and Jazanne Arts staff. The feedback from the audience was outstanding and the cast received a standing ovation after each performance. The play included some great musical numbers and the jokes were very, very funny.
This is what our members had to say about their participation in the project:
Hyacinth played Jay Nicks, bit of a flirt with a penchant for stealing!
For my first time acting, I wrote a radio play with Jazanne Arts about a postman in the pandemic. I also starred in their movie as a colourful bird from outer space.

Bernadette played Marie Mixer, the cook in the manor.
I performed a lot at school concerts and in plays but that was a long time ago. This is my first performance in a long while and I am excited to be performing again after all these years.

Ursula Duberry played Inspector Rogers
I haven’t done any acting before, to me it’s very exciting and I think the audience will be laughing because it’s a funny show. I enjoy it very much.

We are delighted that these members took the opportunity to get involved with the Dream Team and are very proud of what they achieved. We look forward to seeing them again in the future. Well done all!
Jazanne Arts place older people at the heart of their work. Their vision is to provide a platform for the older ‘voice’ and raise the profile and quality of this creative work.
