Chair

Oveta McInnis taught science in London secondary schools for 38 years. She was a deputy headteacher and also an associate headteacher. Throughout her teaching career she was passionate about ensuring all students achieved their best. Many of her students have gone on to have successful careers in science. She enjoys walking in the countryside and she sings in a local gospel choir.

Since her retirement from full time teaching she has continued to contribute to education as Chair of Governors at a local secondary academy and she also sits on exclusion and admission appeal panels. Taking on the role of Chair of the ECA in 2019 was a big responsibility, which has given her an opportunity to continue to serve the community in this new capacity.

“I am committed to the African Caribbean community in Enfield and to making a difference through delivering on our four priorities. It is an honour to serve the community and to collaborate with organisations in Enfield, to support the Caribbean community.”
